45280797

Title: Top Secret
Authors: Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy
Publication Date May 7, 2019

Summary:
LobsterShorts, 21
Jock. Secretly a science geek. Hot AF.

LobsterShorts: So. Here goes. For her birthday, my girlfriend wants…a threesome.

SinnerThree: Then you’ve come to the right hookup app.

LobsterShorts: Have you done this sort of thing before? With another guy?

SinnerThree: All the time. I'm an equal opportunity player. You?

LobsterShorts: [crickets!]

SinnerThree, 21
Finance major. Secretly a male dancer. Hot AF.

SinnerThree: Well, I’m down if you are. My life is kind of a mess right now. School, work, family stress. Oh, and I live next door to the most annoying dude in the world. I need the distraction. Are you sure you want this?

LobsterShorts: I might want it a little more than I’m willing to admit.

SinnerThree: Hey, nothing wrong with pushing your boundaries...

LobsterShorts: Tell that to my control-freak father. Anyway. What if this threesome is awkward?

SinnerThree: Then it’s awkward. It’s not like we’ll ever have to see each other again. Right? Just promise you won’t fall in love with me.

LobsterShorts: Now wouldn’t that be life-changing...

Why I'm Waiting: I may have actually fangirl screamed when this book just nonchalantly was announced. Him and Us are pretty much some of my favorite MM books ever! I'm so so so excited for this. I am studiously ignoring everything about it. I don't want to know. See that summary? I haven't read it. I just want this book in my hands one week from now!

April 2019 Round Up

I'm so happy that I finally got into the reading groove in April. We moved across country at the end of January, and let's just say the upset to my day to day life has upset my reading habits a lot. I read more this last month than I did the entire first three months put together! That being said here's a look at what I read

Sea Glass Island (Ocean Breeze, #3) 35499038 42844588 44192547 44107399 27774758 15881 35247769 44288396 36511805 13132816 30285562 44288397 8267386

Actually, I've read a total of 21 books this year, so I read double this month than I did Jan-Mar combined. So, yeah. It feels good to be home in my books again.

Page Counts
100-200: 1
200-300: 4
300-400: 5
400-500: 4
Total Pages Read: 4,701 pages which comes to an average of 156.7 pages a day

Ratings:
3 Stars: 3 (Crash and Burn, Lucky in Love, and Sea Glass Island)
4 Stars: 6 (Nothing bu Trouble, Running Wild, Emmy & Oliver, Angel, Always and Forever, Lara Jean, An Ember in the Ashes)
5 Stars: 5 (Halo, Serious Moonlight, Vital Found, Viper, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)

I only had 1 reread this month, and it was also my only audiobook which is of course Harry Potter. Otherwise it was a really good reading month.

My favorite read this month was the Fallen Angel series. I honestly picked this up purely because of the pretty covers. I ended up binge reading the whole series, and loving it. My most disappointing was Crash and Burn. I've been looking forward to picking up that book for a long time, and it really fell flat for me. It was a real bummer.

How was your reading month? Can you believe we are already 1/3 of the way through 2019. It's crazy how fast this year is going.

Review: Fallen Angel Series

44107399 44288396 44288397

Fallen Angle Series
Book 1 Halo
Book 2 Viper
Book 3 Angel

Written By: Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine

Summary of Halo: (taken from goodreads)
Massive world tours. Over a hundred million albums sold. Groupies galore.
Every day is a party for Viper and the guys of TBD, the biggest rock band in the world. But it all comes to a screeching halt when the lead singer walks out of the studio one day and never comes back.

Ear-blistering vocals. Butchered lyrics. Fame chasers.
After months of lackluster auditions, Viper, the lead guitarist and resident bad boy of the group, is ready to find solace in the bottom of a bottle. Time’s running out and the pressure’s on to find a new singer, but it isn’t until an angel walks through the door that the band’s prayers are answered.

Charismatic. Talented. Magic behind the mic. Halo is everything they’ve been looking for.
With a voice to match his stunning good looks, it isn’t long before Viper’s taking notice. But there are several reasons this is a bad idea:

1. Interpersonal relationships in the band are discouraged

2. Viper has already broken rule #1—big mistake

3. Halo is straight

Too bad Viper’s body isn’t listening to his head—at least not the one on his shoulders. But you can’t fake chemistry, not onstage and certainly not off it, and Viper and Halo? They have it in spades.

As both men try to resist the fire blazing between them, and the band is forced to reinvent themselves, it’ll be a complicated rise back to the top. But from the ashes of what was, something beautiful is born. Something better. And when the world finally sees Halo stretch his wings, they’ll discover what it’s like to fall for an angel.

My Thoughts:
Yowza this series is sizzling and sweet all at the same time. I should start by stating this is 100% a NSFW MM romance. Not appropriate reading for anyone under the age of 18.

1. All three books focus on the main couple of Halo and Viper. We get to watch the whole progression of their story. Book 1 focuses on the sexual tension and attraction between the two. It's all about the lust. and holy smokes there is tension in spades. Books 2 and 3 delve into the creation of a relationship and making it all work.
2. I love love love Halo and Viper together. They've got the good guy/bad guy chemistry going on, but Viper is definitely flushed out more. He's got the rough outer edge, but when you peel it back he's got so much more to him. Halo is almost too perfect throughout the series. I liked how solid he is as a person though, he doesn't play games and doesn't take anything from Viper either.
3. The series is actually lacking in drama. There is only a tiny bit, but for the most part the series focuses on the development of a relationship and a rock band. I love that. The third book was especially drama free. It was a nice change of pace from most books.
4. This is a gay for you / only for you romance. An admittedly guilty pleasure of mine. I know many dislike it though, so I figure I should state it.

Final Thoughts
I pretty much binge read this series, it's an addicting series. I am so excited that there will be more of the series as we get to read the story of another band member. If you are looking for some light-hearted addicting smut, I highly recommend this series. It was great to see some crossovers from other books too!

Review: Serious Moonlight

36511805

Title: Serious Moonlight
Author: Jen Bennett
Summary: (taken from Goodreads) After an awkward first encounter, Birdie and Daniel are forced to work together in a Seattle hotel where a famous author leads a mysterious and secluded life in this romantic contemporary novel from the author of Alex, Approximately.

Mystery-book aficionado Birdie Lindberg has an overactive imagination. Raised in isolation and homeschooled by strict grandparents, she’s cultivated a whimsical fantasy life in which she plays the heroic detective and every stranger is a suspect. But her solitary world expands when she takes a job the summer before college, working the graveyard shift at a historic Seattle hotel.

In her new job, Birdie hopes to blossom from introverted dreamer to brave pioneer, and gregarious Daniel Aoki volunteers to be her guide. The hotel’s charismatic young van driver shares the same nocturnal shift and patronizes the waterfront Moonlight Diner where she waits for the early morning ferry after work. Daniel also shares her appetite for intrigue, and he’s stumbled upon a real-life mystery: a famous reclusive writer—never before seen in public—might be secretly meeting someone at the hotel.

To uncover the writer’s puzzling identity, Birdie must come out of her shell…discovering that most confounding mystery of all may be her growing feelings for the elusive riddle that is Daniel.

My Thoughts

Oh this book was adorable. I loved it from start to finish. It has fun, kooky, and flawed characters. Birdie is naive, to the point of being awkward and sometimes annoying. But, it is so realistic when you peel the layers and look at how she was raised, and her insecurities make complete sense. Daniel is a cinnamon roll. I wanted to protect him and love him. He's not perfect, but he is truly just trying his best to be a good guy. I love love love that he doesn't judge Birdie when she does and says completely weird and awkward things. Is he perfect, no? Does he make mistakes? yes. But it makes him so believable.

I LOVED the old fashioned mystery element to the story. Birdie and Daniel decide to become a modern day Nick and Nora Charles. They actively seek out a mystery and take great pleasure in spending time together trying to find clues. It's a significant part of the story, and had me all sorts of wanting to find a cute little cozy mystery to read after this. I really feel like Seattle was the perfect backdrop to their mystery solving adventures.

Final Thoughts

This is a sweet story, and it is unique to a lot of YA Contemporary out there. I highly recommend reading it. Birdie and Daniel are adults though, and they do partake in some adult activities. There is sex (fade to black, but there) and light drug use, which is legal in Washington, but not nation wide, and definitely not for teens. I'd say 16 year olds and older would probably do great with this story. Maybe, not younger teens though.

Review: Nothing But Trouble by P. Dangelico

44192547

Title: Nothing But Trouble
Author: P. Dangelico
Series: Malibu University (#1)
Summary: (taken from Goodreads) Reagan Reynolds...
Water polo god.
Owner of a face that belongs under Wikipedia’s definition of drop dead gorgeous.
Too charming for his own good.
But most importantly––the worst driver on the planet.

No, really, I’m pretty sure his blind nana taught him how to drive.

I had no idea who he was until he almost ran me over. And frankly, I kind of wish I still didn’t because then I wouldn’t have a sprained ankle to show for it. And my leg wouldn’t resemble a boa constrictor that’s swallowed a feral pig.

Yeah, it’s that bad.

I’ve spent years saving every penny I’ve ever earned to be able to transfer to Malibu University. And now my entire future––including my scholarship––is in jeopardy.

So I either accept the help he insists on giving me, or lose everything I’ve sacrificed for.

In the meantime, I’m going to ignore the fact that we’re becoming friends.

And I’m definitely going to pretend he’s not turning into the object of my…umm, dirty fantasies.

That’s not happening.

Not even a little.

Because the minute I clapped eyes on him I knew he was nothing but trouble.

My Thoughts:
1. The characters are both likable. Alice is spunky, sarcastic, and independent. Dometimes annoyingly so. But, she has a soft side that makes her endearing. Reagan is a good guy. All around sweet, and devoted. So often sports romances make the jocks into a bad guy. It is so nice to see differently.
2. This is a slow dislike to friends to lovers trilogy. Despite the slow burn, there is a lot of steam between the characters. It feels fairly realistic in the way the relationship progressed.
3. The author isn't afraid to take chances, the book gets pretty intense. Not something you expect when you pick up the cover. It's a good intense, but don't expect a complete light read with meaningless drama.

My Rating:
